Health insurance – any tax relief ?
There is the following tax relief on health insurance premiums as follows
- 20% of the premium or 200 which ever is the higher for adults
2. 20% of the premium or 100 which ever is the higher for children under 21
If you pay the health insurance personally from your own bank account then you the above as a discount (otherwise known as tax relief at source). In order words, you do not need to claim back in your annual tax return.
If your employer pays your health insurance as a BIK, then you claim the above tax relief through your annual tax return.
Can go back 4 years if not claimed previously to 2021 before 31st December 2025.
