If you have late income tax, VAT, PAYE/PRSI, RCT returns and associated taxes overdue to the Revenue Commissioner
Powers available to Revenue can allow them to
1) Impose an estimated amount of tax owing and impose late interest on same as it is was an normal tax return submitted
2) Can impose penalties up to 4k each for outstanding returns
3) Impose Late filing surcharge of up to 10%
4) Impose late annual interest of 8% for income and CT and 9.75% for VAT, PRSI/PAYE, RCT
5) Call in the sheriff to collect the outstanding debt who also charge there own fees
6) Call in the Revenue Solicitor to bring it to court and impose court fines which are then published in the local press
7) Revenue solicitor can request an attachment be put against your property or earnings
It is important where there is a delay in submitting and paying tax returns to get in touch with Revenue as soon as possible
